Toward a Richer Aesthetic

We are considering the first issue as an artifact. Not only do we want the issue to contain accessible poetry and fiction displaying high craftsmanship, we want the artifact itself to be craftsmanlike.

Perfect bound is nice, we agree. And among journals, it is the norm.

We have decided to depart from that approach.

Instead, the first issue will be have a soft leather cover and be handbound using ancient Japanese binding techniques.

The cover art will be commissioned and stamped by hand.

This all sounds rather expensive, but craftsmanship and careful shopping can co-exist.

We are considering free distribution of the first 50 copies requested. The price (if any) of the 51st and beyond (dare we dream?) will be very low, somewhere in the $3-$5 range.

Obviously, we aren't in this for money, but for the love of what is written and those who write it.
